Speed limits are found in every country in the
world, implemented in order to keep roads safe.
The world's first speed limit, of ten miles an hour,
was introduced in England in 1861.
Today the highest speed limits are set at 140
kilometers / 86 miles an hour on certain roads in Abu Dhabi, Bulgaria and
Poland with just four countries having certain roads with no speed limits at all.
For those of you who wish to enjoy a high octane experience, here is a small overview of the few roads
found around the world with no speed limits.

The German Autobahn Network |
Northern Territory, Australia
- There are no speed limits in force on Australia's outback roads situated in it's Northern
Territory.
However many of the territory’s roads are unpaved making high speed problematic, and those which are paved, well maintained and well signposted tend to be located in some of
Australia’s most isolated areas, where there is a danger from animals straying
on to the carriageway, particularly at night.
Drivers must also be alert to the ultimate Australian
road beast of all, the road train.
Germany - Germany
is renowned for having no speed limits on it's 12,813 kilometer autobahn
network.
The German Bundesautobahn are federally built,
controlled access highways which are recognised by their blue signs which
display a single letter A, coupled with either a single, double or triple digit
number.
The autobahns are well maintained, well signposted and
incredibly fast, with speeds of up to 120 kilometers an hour considered
cruising speed.
India - There are
no speed limits on certain roads located in the Indian states of Andra Pradesh
and Maharashtra.
Despite many of the two state’s roads being modern,
well maintained and well signposted, they are fraught with danger owing to the
high speeds and bad driving habits of other road users.
The Isle of Man - This tiny
island located in the Irish Sea is world renowned for it's annual motorcycle TT
Races and for being one of the few places in the world with no speed limits on any of it's rural roads.
However the roads on Man, despite being well maintained
and well signposted, are hilly, full of sharp bends, very narrow in places and speed restrictions are in place throughout the island's towns and villages. FIND HOTELS IN COUNTRIES WITH NO SPEED LIMITS
